 UTE "JUDY" VAN STOCKUM

​Ute, or "Judy," as her friends call her, now lives right here in Mount Prospect, but has spent time all over the world.
     
Her paintings are inspired by and express her love of nature in unique and unexpected ways. Each composition is an abstracted expression of her subject matter, full of rich colors and energy. "My favorite subjects of nature, flowers, leaves and plants continuously nurture my artistic inspirations. This love of flora is expressed through my unique personal style with watercolor and mixed media."

Ute’s innate artistic talent was evident early in life. Even as a young student, Ute carried her sketchbook with her everywhere, filling it cover to cover and receiving A’s on every drawing. In an ironic twist, after opening and running the nation’s top art supply store for 20 years, she then formally trained as a water-colorist under leading artists in metropolitan Chicago, France, Italy, Spain and Hawaii, eventually evolving into her own distinctive style.
